Abstract： A survey of species and population of waterbirds in Jiulongshan Mangrove National Park was conducted from 2009 to 2015. 44 species of waterbirds of 5 orders of 7 families were found in the wetland park. Charadriiformes had the largest number of water birds, followed by Ciconiiformes and Anseriformes. 28 species of winter migratory birds, 11 species of resident birds and 5 species of transit birds were recorded during the survey. The number of winter migratory birds and transit birds accounted for 68% of the total number of waterbirds. The species and population of waterbirds increased year by year. Taking in to account of the situation of Jiulongshan Mangrove National Park, a conservation strategy for waterbirds was proposed.
